Hello! My name is Sandy Easton. Welcome to my promotional web-page, so kindly provided for me here on this site. Coming up very shortly, a wee bit about me and my music, including my new CD. For some more in-depth information, though, click on the ‘biography´ link below.
I am a singer and keyboard-player, performing mainly traditional folk music from Britain and Ireland, but not forgetting North America and the Antipodes. I also have a specific interest in the folk music of continental Europe, which I have yet to fully pursue. Besides that, I am definitely open to the whole range of international material that often gets grouped together under the heading: world music’. I do stray outside the folk tradition and roots music’ as well, though: basically, if I think a song or tune is enjoyable, interesting, seriously important or powerful in some way, then I´ll consider adding it to my repertoire. If it grabs me, I hope it´ll grab you!
I´ve recently made a CD, - my first, - called Venturing Forth’. In fact, you will be hearing a sound-clip from the album playing in the background, if you have speakers that are turned on. This MP3 audio file comprises excerpts from four of the tracks. Just press the ‘escape´ key if you want to silence it.
The CD contains a total of 16 tracks. Although I´m Scottish myself, most of them are English or Anglo-whatever. Musically, the tracks vary in style from a single, unaccompanied voice to much more elaborate settings with a rocky’ or poppy’ flavour. But no electric guitars, I´m afraid! Whilst I am happy to acknowledge my sources of inspiration, I myself am responsible for all the arrangements. I also do the bulk of the performing, though I am ably assisted here by friends on many of the tracks.
